Volunteer Opportunities

Network Knowledge has a variety of opportunities for our members, viewers and the general public to have fun, meet people and get involved. Throughout the year, this station hosts several special events such as our Fun Time Stations, the golf scramble and local pledge drives which all help to support quality, educational programming for all citizens of west central Illinois and northeast Missouri.

Special Program Called Know Your Rights: Creating Community Connections

In October, we'll be airing a special two-part program around the 4th amendment, which includes a fascinating panel discussion from various local perspectives.

Panelists come from the within the Springfield area community, police and law backgrounds, education professions, and more. The programs aims to help community members and local law enforcement understand one another and increase communication around the fourth amendment.

Illinois Stories Fall Bus Trip

Network Knowledge, WSEC/PBS Springfield/Jacksonville/Decatur, is scheduling the next On the Road With Illinois Stories Bus Trip from Springfield. The bus will depart from the Network Knowledge headquarters building at 1475 E. Plummer Blvd., Chatham at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, and return around 5:00 p.m. Please park in the Network Knowledge parking lot, the WSEC parking spaces just across from the headquarters, or the parking lot to the west.

The bus trip will include stops at the following interesting sites:

• The Illinois Raptor Center in Decatur where their new facilities allow them to rehabilitate and care for dozens of big birds of prey, including eagles, falcons and owls
• The Rock Springs Nature Center, where we will get a tour of the Nature Center, the Wildlife Window, the Heritage Garden and the Pioneer Home. Those willing and able can take a guided hike on the nature trail.
• Lunch at Allerton Park, where the mid-day food is acclaimed.
• A tour of the mansion at Allerton Park and tours of the formal gardens and sculpture gardens. Allerton Park’s size and beauty require the full afternoon.

The cost is $60.00 per person. This includes all admissions, tours and lunch. Past bus trips have sold out quickly, so you might want to send in your reservation as soon as possible. We will be shooting an Illinois Stories on the trip that will be aired on Network Knowledge, and copies will be available for purchase.
